At this Thursday’s meeting we’ll make simple fleece blankets that will be given to children entering into foster care in Kitsap County. Often these children arrive with little or nothing and the blankets provide comfort in a confusing time.
No crafting skills required; just bring yourself and fabric scissors marked with your name or a ribbon if you can! (We’ll have some on hand as well so don’t stay in your car if you forget!) This is always a fun meeting–see you then!
“Wholehearted living is about engaging in our lives from a place of worthiness. It means cultivating the courage, compassion and connection to wake up to think: No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough. Yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, and I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging.” Brene Brown
At our last meeting, Bev talked about vulnerability. As we move into this time of Thanksgiving, with all the joys and expectations of the holiday season upon us, let yourself wonder about this quote, and ask yourself:
- What would it feel like to embrace myself in this way?
- What does it feel like, for even a moment, to believe that I am enough?
- In what ways might it be hard for me to be vulnerable?
- What are the fears that block me?
- What helps me to lower my armoring?
Thanksgiving offers us an opportunity to go further with our inquiry into the nature of compassion. May yours be blessed with new insights for the journey!
Childcare Growing Strong!
We have had such a great turnout we are opening a toddler room! Starting this week, on Nov. 21st we will have a nursery room, a toddler room, and a preschool room. Talk to our childcare workers upon arrival to find the best fit for your little ones!
And…FYI…School Delays will Cancel Mom’s Morning Retreat
In the event that the Bainbridge Island School District is on a delayed start or school is canceled due to inclement weather, our meeting will not happen, so stay safe and warm at home!
See you this Thursday!
