In Service: Friendship & Fleece

Our next meeting will be Thursday, November 19  9:30-11 at  Grace

At this meeting we will (again this year) be making colorful and cozy fleece blankets for local children in the foster care system. We give the blankets we make as gifts to infants and children entering foster care – often with nothing more than the clothes on their backs or a few spare belongings.  Since Mom’s Morning Retreat began doing this, over a hundred and fifty blankets have been made and distributed to local children. There are two ways that you can help us reach even more kids:

  • Please donate fleece fabric. We’re looking for thick fleece, called
“blizzard weight,” that comes in a variety of colors and patterns. The blanket pattern that we use requires 1.5 yards of fleece. We can make 2 blankets with 3 yards. Do you have some extra fleece in your fabric stash?
  • Join us and make a blanket! Thursday, November 19at 9:30am is blanket making day. We’d love to have anyone from the church join us. There’s no sewing!  It will be an easy, busy hands, lots of laughter kind of morning! BYOS (bring your own scissors).

For instructions on how to make these “no sew” fleece blankets check out an earlier post.
