This week, Thursday the 15th of February, we are going to explore resilience, grit, and perseverance. Sheryl Sandberg in her latest book, Option B, stated, “Resilience is the strength and speed of our response to adversity – and we can build it. It isn’t about having a backbone. It’s about strengthening the muscles around our backbone.”
We all have faced adversity, in all flavors, in all sizes. Some of us appear to handle it with ease. Some of us clearly struggle; I personally felt like I was drowning, trying desperately to tread water with no assistance in sight.
Together we will consider what resilience looks like, feels like and how to cultivate more of it so we have it when we most need it. We will share our own experiences and how resilience came into play, successfully or not. As a community of strong women, we will reflect on the courage and commitment that may be needed to support one another in strengthening those muscles around our backbones.
Join us this Thursday, 9:30-11am at Grace Episcopal Church on Bainbridge Island. Sweet and savory treats, warm beverages, and wonderful voices and ears with whom to share and learn together. See you there.
