About Mom’s Morning Retreat

Mom’s Morning Retreat is a trusted place for mothers to connect and replenish.

We are a group of women with different lifestyles, backgrounds, and beliefs, who desire to support each other as we learn and grow as women, mothers, and partners.  We recognize that motherhood is a time of joy and challenge.  We believe that there are benefits when mothers have a regular opportunity to be nurtured and fed, to reflect and share together as a group.

We are thrilled to have Bev Gaines as our mentor to lead our guided discussions.  Bev is a Life Coach and Spiritual Director and experienced mother of two grown children and grandmother of five.  She is a member of Grace Episcopal Church and was a mentor of the Mothers Nurturing Mothers (MNMs) group at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church for 14 years.

Mom’s Morning Retreat meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday mornings of the month, from 9:30-11:00 am, at Grace Episcopal Church (on Day Road, look for the Grace Episcopal Church sign and driveway at the east end of The Island School).  This year we will be meeting from September 15th through early-June.  Meetings are open to mothers with children of all ages.  Children’s programming (including stories, art, music and snack) is provided for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners.  This allows moms an opportunity to take a much-needed break from their childcare responsibilities, while participating in guided discussions and activities in the fellowship of other women.  Children’s Programming is available beginning at 9:15 am, with children picked up promptly at 11am.

Final quote compass

Join us this year as we explore the theme, “Mapping Your One Wild and Precious Life,” inspired by Mary Oliver’s poem, The Summer Day.  Oliver ends this lovely and thought provoking poem with this question, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

We will explore today Mapping Your One Wild and Precious Life – where are you now, where did you come from? How might you use a compass to find your way, or do you prefer to follow your North Star? We will discuss what it means to thrive, to unplug, to learn about yourself, to be intentional in your choices, and to be creative.  We will explore strategies and practices that make “Mapping Your One Wild and Precious Life” not only accessible, but fun.

Come make friends. Enjoy a muffin and coffee. Have a laugh and dig a little deeper!
